The Shifting World of Experiences and What You Can Expect From Us
The Maine Oyster Company
exists because of a love for the Maine working waterfront
and the trickle down effect it has on so many aspects of life. Farming oysters, hauling lobster traps, preparing and serving the finished product...all of these jobs are unified by one thing; providing an experience. From the moment you start the oyster seed, to the day you’re shucking them up for guests, there is a connection to the water, to the Maine landscape, to people, and to the overall end goal of providing folks with sustenance and flavor while bettering the environment. We aim to provide sometimes educational and always memorable experiences, whether it’s showing up at Maine Beer Company's Tasting room
to set up a raw bar and shuck for a couple hours or housing a company retreat at our Phippsburg Base Camp
with fully catered meals, enhancing an experience or creating it is what we do!
That’s been tough in today’s current events. The world is facing a lot of uncertainty right now and it’s been increasingly difficult to think up ways of creating experiences from behind a computer screen. At the same time, the question remains; when we’re all given the go ahead to open back up, what will the social landscape look like? We are aiming to create dynamic events that meet all safety regulations.
We’ve begun the process of reaching out to partners in the greater Portland area to create small scale safe events/ experiences. Continuing to book virtual shucking classes on our website is just a taste of what we will offer to oyster and seafood lovers in this new social landscape. Small scale shucking classes, raw bars for under 50, aquaculture education, and wine pairing classes are a few ideas on the table. Minus large crowded events nothing has really changed in the experience realm. Our focus will always be on our guests leaving happy & full of oysters!
